The most difficult thing that a slim woman or a woman of any size has to deal with is how to get a flat stomach. The abdominal area is the most problematic part to tone down because the body is fond of hoarding fat in that area. Even though slim people are already content with their overall weight, having a bloated stomach still leaves much to be desired. Like all other troubles though, it’s nothing that some easy tricks can’t fix. Of course, these tricks revolve around diet and exercise.
There’s a popular saying that goes “abs are made in the kitchen” and this is proven true. A bulging midsection is a result of the body storing excess fat which can be fixed by carefully choosing which food you eat. In order to achieve this, you should have a diet of vegetables, fruits, nuts and lean proteins. It is also important to consider decreasing your daily calorie intake by a small amount. Replace food with a high glycemic index such as sugars and white flours with complex carbohydrates like whole grains. Sugar and white flours have the tendency to cause a spike in insulin which, in turn, causes your body to store more fat in the tummy.
In order to get a flat stomach, you should have discipline. It is important to avoid meals that cause your body to retain water or to bloat. There are people who don’t have tummy fat and have strong abs but still have a bloated midsection. If you are one of these types of people, you may have to discipline yourself not to partake in certain foods like sodas and chewing gum. There may also be a need to avoid foods considered healthy such as lettuce, broccoli and beans since these cause your stomach to store gas. Processed foods usually contain high sodium and these make your stomach look bigger due to water retention.
150 minutes per week of cardio can do wonders to your midriff. 30 minutes per day or 1 hour every other day is good enough to make you feel invigorated. Burning calories with this type of activity facilitates and gets rid of unwanted fat. It is important to note though that the body shed fats in the whole body and does not do so in a specific area in your body. In this case, you may not see your tummy shedding fat right away but just be patient and you will be rewarded handsomely.
It is advisable to perform resistance training - exercises using weights as well as body weight exercise - as these exercises facilitate the burning of body fat. This is also an opportunity to work directly on your abs by performing exercise that target the area. There are instances when a tummy is not in the form that you want it to be merely because the abdominal muscles are too weak to hold your stomach properly. Reinforcing the abdominal wall with the help of exercises that target the abs will cause the stomach to form a flatlook.
